Abstract:

The evaluation of the 18 Ni Co Mo maraging steel has demonstrated that provided double vacuum melted stock is used the material possesses excellent static mechanical properties as either bar or forgings. The maintenance of high notched strength and good impact values over a wide temperature range makes the material attractive for structural applications, although the lower modulus of elasticity of maraging steel must be taken into account in design considerations.
