Taking advantage of the fact that in the production of bimetallic material through using the electroslag process, the melting temperature of the electrode material is lower than the melting point temperature of the base material, it was proposed that the slag bath temperature be lowered to a point where the base metal does not melt. High quality junction of materials is achieved in this case through wetting the hard base metal with melted electrode metal in the process of welding. The slag bath temperature was lowered successfully through the creation of special chemically active fluxes with the introduction of a temperature stabilizing component into their compositon.
