Abstract:

The Minsk Directorate of Automotive Transport Roads has, since 1963, realized the shipment of small lots of cargoes in one-ton motor vehicle containers models AK-2 wooden and AK-3 metal, which are manufactured at the Bobruysk Experimental-Mechanical Plant of the BSSR Ministry of Motor Vehicle Transport. Containers of these types are intended for bulk transportation of any type of cargoes machine assemblies and parts, textile goods, footwear, food products and so forth. Over the period of the first two years, which is to say 1963-1964, transportation of cargoes in motor vehicle containers was still in the experimental stage and the volume of containerized shipping has sharply grown only since 1965.
