Abstract:
The article considers the effect of relative thickness on the limiting deformation of membranes. The deformation of membranes which are rigidly attached along a circular contour is studied experimentally. The materials studied are low carbon steel with a thickness of 0.5 mm and soft aluminum with a thickness of 1.4 mm. A change in the membrane radius from 205 to 13.5 mm yields a considerable change in the deformation magnitudes in the membrane pole at the breakdown instant and is reflected in the form of the finite sector of the relationship between the pressure of the fluid and the membrane depth.
