Abstract:

The paper describes the outcome of a small experiment to test the validity of some proposed software engineering techniques. The experiments showed that it was possible to combine the work of many programmers to produce systems which could exist in many versions. Major changes in the systems implementation could be made by replacing well defined small subsets of the system. The experiment seems to support 1 the validity of the techniques being tested and 2 some new conclusions about project management and the focusing of effort in software projects. Author
