Abstract:

GARNET, MAGNETIC PROPERTIES, PHASE SHIFT CIRCUITS, FERRITES, WAVEGUIDE CIRCULATORS, MICROWAVE EQUIPMENT, CRYSTAL GROWTH, BISMUTH COMPOUNDS, CALCIUM COMPOUNDS, VANADIUM COMPOUNDS, ULTRAHIGH FREQUENCY, MICROWAVE FREQUENCY, S BAND, YTTRIUM COMPOUNDS, MAGNETOSTRICTION, ANISOTROPYYTTRIUM IRON GARNETSPolycrystalline Bi-Ca-V garnets have been produced, by conventional ceramic processing and firing, with microwave loss characteristics and hysteresis loop properties of Hc 1 Oe and 4piM sub r 400G for a composition having 4piM sub s 600G. This material has proven to be rather stress sensitive and a parallel program has begun to find minor substitutions which reduce magnetostriction. Nickel is only slightly soluble in Calvanbig, Ni 0.01 to 0.02 per formula unit, and has a marginal effect on magnetostriction and anisotropy. Substitution of Eu and Ru have stronger effects on the anisotropy properties but also increase FMR linewidth. Author
