The Russian invention involves a hermetic zinc-manganese alkaline cell in which the negative electrode has a metal current tap and is located in the cavity of the positive electrode. The electrode is separated by a cellophane diaphragm. The invention characterized by the current tap of the negative electrode which is constructed in the form of a tube, from sheet metal which is coiled into a spiral. The cavity within this serves as a gas compartment.
