Abstract:

A critical essay discussing several key problems in the application of behavioral science to organizational problems is presented. Two kinds of problems are identified the under utilization of intellectual resources, and the misunderstanding and misapplication or organizational power. It is hypothesized how these two classes of errors can be shown to explain many of the problems faced by organization development practitioners. An alternative approach to organizational change that relies on a complementary, rather than a collaborative, relationship is proposed.
