To quantitatively assess the differences in fatigue life results, between conventional and fluid coated or lubricated shot peening with 7075-T73 Aluminum and 6Al-4V Titanium, under identical peening intensities, a fatigue test program was carried out using cantilever type test equipment. Tests were run under low-medium cycle conditions. Even though the statistical test for the differences in mean fatigue lives for the two processes showed differences in means at a significance level of 0.10, or less in some cases the estimated strength of statistical association was much smaller than that which could be detected by the amount of data obtained to draw any significant conclusion.
