Abstract:

Methods of measuring temperatures above 1000K that are of importance in the determination of thermophysical properties of materials are reviewed. Included are discussions of noble and refractory metal thermocouples with emphasis on the platinum-rhodium and tungsten-rhenium alloys, recent developments in optical pyrometry, and some less common but potentially useful techniques.
