The purpose of this research project is to characterize the switching process in selected amorphous semiconductors. The research has been divided into two parts, the first comparing the actual switching behavior of amorphous semiconductor films with computer simulations of switching based on an assumed thermal model. The second part of the research compares the electron energy spectrum of crystalline and amorphous semiconductors of the same composition in order to understand the uniqueness of amorphous semiconductors electrical properties.
