Abstract:
The analysis of Raman scattering by polaritons in anisotropic crystals is carried out with due respect for 1 noncollinearity of propagation and Poynting vectors, 2 the influence of anisotropy on the Greens function describing the dependence of radiation efficiency on angle, 3 solid angle expansion at boundaries, including its dependence on the incidence angle, and 4 the influence of exit optics on the length of laser beam which contributes to the scattered intensity. A generalized brightness theorem valid in anisotropic media is proven. The Raman scattering efficiency is evaluated by careful use of the function-dissipation theorem. Author
