The NASA Electronic Strain-Level Counter was evaluated by analyzing the data recorded during 26 flights on an A-37B aircraft. The strain-level counter output was compared with data from a collocated strain gage recorded by a digital magnetic tape recorder. Fatigue damages were computed for several hypothetical strain-level counters to determine their suitability as fleet damage monitoring devices.
