The objectives of the task were to establish the best silicone additive for use with each of three hydrazine type fuels UDMH, MMH and 5050 based on solubility and stability tests to determine physical properties and heat transfer characteristics of the fuel blends and to establish engine performance and heat flux reduction effects by conducting fire tests with the 5050 fuel blend and N2O4 oxidizer. Solubility screening tests of 132 compounds showed that UDMH was the best solvent for silicones, with MMH intermediate, and then 5050 fuel. Fuel blends containing 3 percent concentration by weight of silicone were subjected to 48 hour temperature stability tests and 30 day storage tests. The best additive for each fuel was selected and vapor pressure and density determinations were made. Author Modified Abstract
