This is a second yearly progress report on the project, the objective of which is to develop high strength filaments tungsten alloys and silicon carbide reinforced super alloy composites with a rupture life of 100 hours under 30 ksi at 2000F. The report, represents progress made in the following three main areas Fabrication and testing of composites W alloy filament in modified Mar M-322 alloys Compatibility and extended period filament-matrix stability at 2000F in the W alloy filament-Mar M-322 25W systems and Development of a technique for the coating of TaC on filaments of SiC and Tungsten.
