Abstract:

Plans for a proposed north-south arterial bridge over Canacadea Creek in Hornell, New York, indicate advantages in the extension of the existing high-velocity concrete chute by removal of the existing notched weir at sta 33531.4, just above the Seneca St. Bridge, and its replacement by a weir of similar design at sta 33856.4. Tests were conducted in a 130-scale model that reproduced Canacadea Creek between sta 32300 and 34500 to ensure that ample sidewall freeboard will obtain upstream of the proposed weir as well as adequate freeboard at the north-south arterial, Seneca St., and Church St. Bridges downstream of the proposed wier.
