Abstract:

The Bayou Courtableau Drainage Structure consists of five-barrel, reinforced-concrete box culvert 220 ft long with an approach basin and a stilling basin. The culvert underlies part of an earth levee embankment. Settlement of the structure is essentailly complete. Longitudinal movement at the joints in the wing walls of the stilling and approach basins results in part from seasonal expansion and contraction due to temperature change. The joint openings are increasing slightly with time. The effectiveness of the drainage system could not be evaluated, as the structure had not been subjected to a major high water. Author
