The report summarizes work in simulating the Digital Radar Landmass Simulator DRLMS for evaluation purposes. The software produced under this contract is run on a computing facility to generate simulated radar images on a radar display. The work done consisted of two parts production of a data base and simulation of the hardwares processing of this data base. In development of the data base, the contractor compressed government-supplied data, in a grid format, to an edges representation. The edges are ridge and valley lines, in the case of terrain data, and reflectance boundaries for culture data. The algorithms used to achieve this representation are not to be construed as optimum. They are, however, vehicles for studying a technique and can be easily modified by the user if desired.
