Abstract:

The following results are noted The ratio of the quantity of volatilized electrode metal to the quantity of the fused metal increases with increasing current and arcing time Increasing the heat conductivity and oxidizing potential of the shielding gas increases the volatilization intensity The quantity of volatilized and oxidized metal increases with increasing gas consumption The bulk of losses of electrode metal constituents is due to volatilization.
