Abstract:

Several methods have been devised for processing a digital radar data base to create simulated mapping-radar scope images. To aid in the evaluation of these various methods, NAVTRAEQUIPCEN has developed a system which operates in conjunction with its TRADEC System to produce a pseudo real-time radar display. Simulation methods can be simulated on this system for comparison and evaluation. The objective of this report is to describe the software, developed in-house, which processes raw digital radar data to produce a baseline simulation against which other methods may be compared. The software is functionally broken down into three tasks terrain data processing, cultural data processing, and radar effects. It is written in a high-level language, FORTRAN, to facilitate experimentation and modification. Author
