Abstract:

In the book the theory of plasma instabilities, one of the most important sections of the theory of plasma, is explained in a systematized manner. Detailed information concerning all basic types of plasma instabilities, beginning with beam instabilities and ending with plasma instabilities in a curved magnetic field, is given. The book consists of two volumes. In the first volume Instabilities of Homogeneous Plasma, the author discusses instabilities caused by non-Maxwellian distribution of particles with respect to velocities, and in the second volume Instabilities of Heterogeneous Plasma, he discusses the heterogeneity of the plasma and the magnetic field.
