Abstract:
Mechanical properties of rock and soil are described from the viewpoint of their effects on waves from explosive sources. Important variables which are commonly used in describing material properties are defined. Constitutive properties of rocks and soil are discussed and general and specific mathematical models of these properties are given. The role of laboratory and in situ experiments in measuring constitutive properties are considered.
