Abstract:

The Radiation Interaction Program RIP was developed and documented as part of the DNA-sponsored PREDIX Program. RIP is a one-dimensional slab geometry, material response code. This code is used to calculate the response of homogeneous materials exposed to x-ray radiation, electron beams, plate impact or an arbitrary time-dependent pressure boundary condition. The report contains a general description of the code, its available options, and descriptions of the primary physical models. In particular the x-ray radiation source routine, equations of state, a rate-dependent strain hardening constitutive model for 6061-T6 aluminum which also includes a Bauschinger effect on unloading, and material failure models are discussed in this report.
