The pin-rod laser is compared with the flat electrode double discharge laser. A program for TEA laser mode and transition control is described. It is concluded that if pulse to pulse frequency stability a few MHz can be achieved, the CO2 TEA devices would be valuable in ranging, obstacle avoidance, and other pulsed radar applications. Author
