Abstract:

The non-intercepting beam position sensor, consisting of two sets of pick-up coils, over which trimming capacitors are added, is an improved version of the one proposed by Johnson et al. The modification results in a nearly perfect zero-signal for a centrally located beam. Calculations including the stray capacitance of the coils are sketched. The linearity and sensitivity of the system are very satisfactory. Author
