The paper describes a new angular vibration transducer in which a helical column of gas constitutes the seismic rotary mass. This arrangement offers many attractive features which include good performance, extreme ruggedness and simplicity. By way of illustration, the design of a transducer of range plus or minus 10 degrees covering the frequency band 2-20 Hz is discussed and results of tests on the instrument are given. Author
