Abstract:
Materials from the sources that are expected to be used in the construction of Dworshak Dam were used in concrete mixtures from which 24 specimens were molded and tested for creep at different ages. Twelve were made from a mixture that would have had a cement content of 3.25 bagscu yd had it contained aggregate graded up to 6 in. in size. Aggregate larger than 1-12 in. was omitted. Twelve were made from a mixture that was similar except that 30 percent by solid volume of the portland cement was replaced with a pozzolan calcined shale. Companion specimens were made and tested for compressive strength.
