Abstract:
The report describes a new type of ship design, the Sea Sulky, employing negatively lifting hydrofoils that submerge the bouyant part of the ship while underway, thus, effectively eliminating the wave resistance normally encountered by surface ships. Superficially resembling the Semi-Submerged Ship, the configuration consists of two torpedo shaped bodies, linked to a platform superstructure through a patented articulated suspension system that is intended to reduce crossover structural requirements. Various aspects of the design are discussed. Author
