Abstract:
The laminar boundary layer on a flat plate is investigated at a fixed wall temperature, the oncoming stream being subsonic and in thermodynamic equilibrium. The fluid is a mixture of thermally perfect gases exhibiting vibrational relaxation processes. Two mechanisms of energy transfer are investigated excitation in parallel and excitation in series. Similarity solutions describe the boundary-layer flow in the near frozen and near equilibrium case, if the difference between the wall temperature and the temperature of the oncoming stream is sufficiently small.
