Abstract:

The paper presents a method for calculating the flow about non-axial symmetric bodies in subsonic and supersonic flow. The bodies are constructed by means of the streamlines on their surface. Source, dipole and quadrupole singularities are assumed on a curved camberline the differential equations for the streamlines are derived and numerically integrated. At the tip of the body, which is the initial point of the integration as well as a singular point of the differential equations, the problem can be solved by a transformation to conical coordinates. Different cross-sections and longitudinal sections of the body can be produced by varying the source, dipole and quadrupole strengths as well as the camber of the cambeline. This method seems to be particularly suitable in cases in which the streamlines are of interest. Using this method, the pressure distribution and the air forces on bodies can be determined. Author
