Abstract:
NZE, CZOCHRALSKI METHODThe objective of this program was to obtain a new electrooptic material suitable for Q-switching of visible and near infrared radiation at low repetition rates. The compounds KBa5Nb9ZrO30 and Ba2LaLiNa2Nb10O30 were observed to exhibit the tetragonal tungsten bronze structure. Barium strontium niobate in which the zirconium cation was isomorphously substituted for a portion of the niobium cation was also prepared. Tungsten bronze compounds were formulated and prepared of compositions KSr5TiNb9O30, La3Li3Nb8Zr2O30 and Ba, SrNb2O6 - BaLiNb5O15. Single crystal growth studies were carried out by use of the direct-melt Czochralski technique. Ba2LaLiNa2Nb10O30, Ba1-xSrxNb2O6b where 0.25 or x or 0.75, Ba, SrNb2O6 - Ba2LiNb5O15, Zr-doped Ba, SrNb2O6 and KBa5Nb9Zro30 single crystals were grown. Samples of dimensions and perfection for electrooptic evaluation studies were prepared in single crystalline form. Electrooptic, optical damage and dielectric studies of these new tungsten bronze structural type single crystals were performed and are described. Author
