The design consideration and calibration of a new single well liquid metal solution calorimeter for use at high temperature is described. The calorimeter has an operational temperature range of 500C to 1300C in a vacuum and was designed primarily to operate 1200C using liquid uranium as a solvent. Calibration was based on the heat content, between room temperature and the calorimeter temperature, of weighed samples of pure uranium. The partial heat of solution of vanadium, chromium, iron, and nickel in uranium at 1150C were determined. Author
