Abstract:
The various design considerations of a solar ephemeris synthesizer for the LES-89 stationkeeping system are discussed. Different approximations are used to reduce the amount of hardware required for building the synthesizer. The overall accuracy of the synthesizer is about 0.01 deg for orbits inclined up to 5.0 deg from the ecliptic plane. For orbits inclined at greater angles up to 10 deg, the short term accuracy is 0.01 degday and the long term accuracy is about 0.05 degyear. A few ephemerides generated by the synthesizer are graphically illustrated.
