Abstract:
Theoretical vibration cross sections calculated by Marriott using a close coupling analysis for the excitation of CO, CO2 and H2O in collision with CO2, H2O, H2, and He are reviewed and presented in a form convenient for use in modeling the chemistry of rarefied flow environments. Although no direct cross section data is available for any of the excitation processes considered, an indirect evaluation of the theoretical values is obtained by comparison to available relaxation time measurements.
