The report describes the performance and achievements in a study of Photographic Water Conservation and Reclamation Processes. Described is a modified wash system to reduce wash water consumption by 95 percent to 99 percent on a KODAK VERSAMAT Film Processor, Model 11C-M. The film quality study supports the conclusion that levels of residual thiosulfate obtained with this modified wash system are acceptable for many tactical applications. The water quality studies described by this report lead to the conclusion that deleterious photographic effects for black-and-white processing are caused by high calcium hardness, sulfides and elemental sulfur, among those potential water contaminants studied.
