Abstract:
The mathematical analysis methods used in the Spectrum Analysis and Display Computer Program are based on well-known Fourier series and Fourier integral formulations. In the report these basic analytic tools and their relation to the quantities computer by the program are described. The program displays a pictorial representation of the power spectrum of an analyzed signal, as well as estimates of 1 the frequency within a designated frequency band at which there is a maximum in the spectral density, 2 the 6-dB bandwidth about the maximum value, 3 the mean frequency within the 6-dB bandwidth, 4 the total power within the 6-dB bandwidth, and 5 the equivalent signal power of a pure sinewave at the frequency corresponding to the peak in the power spectrum. The report contains a detailed description of how the program is used, and of the outputs it produces, including examples of actual program output, and a source language FORTRAN listing. Author
