Abstract:
In the midsummer of 1970 NRL performed at low frequency underwater sound surface-scattering experiment in the Pacific at 38 degrees N, 161 W. During the course of the experiment measurements of the vertical acceleration and orthogonal slopes of a typical patch of ocean surface were made with an improved VARPMAG float system sensitive to gravity wave components with frequencies up to about 1 Hz. The purpose of this report is to provide surface roughness and directionality information which will be of use in constructing a scattering model for the acoustic observations. Author
