Abstract:
The PEDAS program is an axially-symmetric 2-dimensional Monte Carlo computer code which calculates the close-in time-dependent energy deposition and ionization due to the primary and scattered x-rays from one or more point sources in an exponential atmosphere. The arbitrary spectrum emitted by each source is specified individually and can be time dependent. A feature of the code allows a certain number of photons to be propagated simultaneously in order to approximate better the actual time relationship between scattered and unscattered photons. The code is described and the results of several sample calculations are discussed. A listing of the program is given. Author
