Abstract:
A robust detection scheme, called Detection Scheme with Learning of Thresholds DSLT, for the detection of M-ary Amplitude Shift Keyed Signals is proposed and analyzed. It is shown that DSLT performs better in the sense of lower probability of error than the Detection Scheme with Fixed Thresholds. The improvement in performance is due to the fact that DSLT assumes a priori information regarding the approximate form of noise distribution, unlike DSFT. The performance of DSLT is independent of the mean value of the noise, unknown amounts of DC drifts and intersymbol interference if it can be assumed that the intersymbol interference can be replaced by an unknown constant.
