Turbulent Models for Strongly Heated, Developing Gas Flows

As bases for studies in the design of compressors and turbines and for turbulent flow in magnetohydrodynamic channels, basic numerical and experimental investigations were made towards developing an operational three-dimensional treatment of turbulent transport processes, with consideration of fluid property variation and body forces. Two-dimensional numerical programs were developed and applied for gaseous, internal, turbulent, boundary layer flow in circular tubes and wide rectangular ducts. Measurements under strong heating were a heat transfer and friction parameters for flow through square ducts, b wall temperatures for mixed convection in the laminarization region in circular tubes, c velocity and temperature profiles in a wide rectangular duct, and d velocity and temperature profiles in laminarizing flow in a circular tube.
