An electron time-of-flight spectrometer, designed for high-resolution electron spectroscopy in the 1 to 1CO eV range, has been built and tested. It is described along with a new apparatus designed and constructed for studying the dissociative excitation of H2 by electron impact. When the apparatus becomes fully operational, an improved measurement of the velocity distributions of the metastable H2s atoms, resulting from the dissociation of the hydrogen molecule, will be made.
