Infrared Line Shape Study Using a Tunable 2.01micron He-Xe Laser.

A tunable laser spectroscopy experiment using a magnetically tuned He-Xe laser at 2.02 micrometers is described. CO2 absorption spectra were measured over a 0.18cm band near the laser frequency. A laser line width of less than 0.00067cm was achieved. Line widths of CO2 were measured in the near Dopppler pressure region 0.5 5o 3.0 torr and excellent agreement with Voight profile theory was achieved. Author
