A method is described which fills the need for quantitative determination of low concentration levels of cerium and gadolinium in fluoride-base single-crystals. The sensitivity and reproducibility attained will enable correlation of optical, electrical and energy transfer datw with observed concentration levels. A minimum of sample handling is necessary. C omplete consumption burn is used with six replicates to achieve sensitivities of 0.01 for gadolinium and 0.033 for cerium in a fluoride-graphite matrix. Author
