Effect of Free Alkalies and Acids on the Properties of Complex Calcium Greases,

Pagination or Media Count:
Free alkalies and acids substantially affect the rheological properties of K,Ca greases prepared both on the basis of stearic acids and on a fraction of SFA C10-C20. An alkali excess, which exceeds the stoichiometric, when introduced into the grease, back-titrates incompletely. When preparing K,Ca greases it is necessary to carefully do this per the quantity of CaOH2 introducible into the grease. The best results were obtained with the introduction into the grease of CaOH2 in an amount close to the stoichiometric in regard to increasing the thickening ability of the K,Ca soap.
