Oscillatory Behavior of Detonating Solid Explosives

The report shows that the structural phenomenology of gaseous detonations is extendable to solid explosives of military interest. The cell size in gaseous detonations is a function of the effective heat release rate, i. e., that heat release rate experienced by the detonation front. This has been shown to be true for solids as well, and the cell size has been shown to be a function of the physical factors which affect the effective heat release rate, viz., granularity, loading density, confinement, charge dimensions, etc.
