Abstract:

The report describes the design and construction of a Digital Fast Fourier Transform Processor DIFFTRAP with several features useful in signal processing applications. These features include overlapping computation with IO, optional scaling of data, shifting of time origin, inverse transform, unscrambling of bit-reversed output data, and simultaneous transform of two real functions. A thorough development of processor algorithms and computations sequences is presented, as well as a detailed description of the hardware used to implement them. A description is also given of the hardware used to interface this processor to the DISAC general purpose digital computer in a larger signal processing system. Author
