A protocol is presented for methods to determine several blood and urine components for a biochemical evaluation of nutritional status. The protocol is an extension of that recommended for nutrition surveys recommended by the Interdepartmental Committee on Nutrition for National Defense. The methods include analyses for the following blood components vitamins A and C, carotene, hemoglobin, protein, albumin, globulin, sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, copper, zinc, and transketolase activity. Also included are methods for determination of urinary thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, N1-methylnicotinamide, vitamin B6, folacin, and creatinine. Author
