Abstract:

The hydrolysis of CH2Cl2 was studied by a flow method with N2 as carrier gas. The only reaction products were HCl, HCHO, and paraformaldehyde. The catalysts were obtained by calcination of NiSO4 with xH2O at 320-600C the activity of H3PO4, SiO2, Al2O3, NiO, ZnS, SiO2, and diatomite catalysts was also studied. The activity in CH2Cl2 hydrolysis was compared to the activity in the alpha pinene and N butene isomerization. The nature of the catalytic centers implied in each case is discussed. Author
