Abstract:

An insulated conductor placed in a borehole is used as a radiating antenna in the radio wave method for studying subsurface structure. The parameters of this conductor change in dependence on the properties of the surrounding rocks. A study was made of the electromagnetic field directly near the antenna, determining its input resistance and other properties. A formula showing the dependence of the propagation coefficient and antenna input resistance on the dielectric constants of the lead sheating and surrounding medium is derived and analyzed. Author
