Abstract:

The methods for lining furnace cars which are widespread in industry no longer answer the increased operational requirement. One of the means for improvement, of the lining is the replacement of ceramic materials by products made of heat-resistant grog concrete on a grog filler. However, even heat-resistant grog concrete has a shortcoming - the comparatively high thermal-expansion coefficient - of an order of 9 x 10 to the -6th power. It is possible to lower the coefficient of thermal expansion of products made from concrete by the replacement of the grog filler by another which is characterized by a smaller value of this coefficient, for example cordierite. Such a concrete was proposed by R. M. Zayonts and studied by the authors of the present article. Author
